Today I am joined by John Higgins of The Bible is Art YouTube channel to discuss his work, the literary character of Scripture, and the book of Proverbs.
To see more of John’s work, visit The Bible is Art channel. You can watch some of John’s work on Proverbs in his videos ‘The Literary Art of the Proverb’ and ‘The Story of Proverbs’.
John has recently set up an exceedingly useful page with links to audio lectures and talks on various books of the Bible. I encourage you to support John’s work over on The Bible is Art’s Patreon page.
Regarding the 2nd generation of Israelites entering the Promised Land, not the 1st generation (which could not enter because of unbelief), as John Higgins said in the video.
The 2nd generation figurally represents those “born anew” or “born again”.
A consistent key to the interpretation of Scripture, whether Ishmael vs. Isaac, Esau vs.Jacob, Leah vs. Rachel, etc. is 1 Corinthians 15:46 – ” However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual (i.e. 2nd!)”. This applies also to “born-again” and Saul (1st King) vs. David (2nd King).

1 Corinthians 15:46 also applies to Cain-Abel!
